For the past nine months I have been involved in the renovation of a mid nineteenth century Methodist chapel. The chapel walls had suffered quite extensive lateral movement which was visible internally and externally in the form of many horizontal and vertical cracks. The five metre high ceiling had been overboarded with sheeting and timber latts nailed over the joints. The roof construction consisted of three main trusses supporting purlins, rafters and latts finished with Welsh slates. The boarding had been fixed up the rake of the rafters and horizontally along the underside of the trusses. I wanted to keep this profile visible but the whole ceiling would need to be overboarded with a smoother continuous plasterboard finish to look right as a modern efficient dwelling The walls were in such a poor state internally that it would not be cost effective to repair and re plaster, also the end result would not be satisfactory. Thermal insulation also needed some consideration as the walls were 230mm and 330mm solid brick I had decided early on in the project that the walls would be dry lined and finished with British Gypsums’ insulation backed plasterboard and finished with their primer topcoat, which removed the need for a plaster skim coat, which also meant that I could do it myself.A similar treatment would also be used on the ceiling But this led to a problem – how would I manage to raise 1200 x 2400mm sheets up to the ceiling and along the higher part of the walls without help? I had been pondering this problem for a few weeks when I discovered the Drywall Lift in Professional Builder magazine.

The Drywall Lift seemed to offer the ideal solution and so within a few days I had one on site and was soon very pleased with how useful and flexible it proved to be. As well as laying boards flat on the frame and hoisting them into position at ceiling level it was also possible to alter the angle of the frame to 45 degrees which was useful for the raked sides A very speedy crank hoists the boards up to the required level in seconds and the frame is adjustable to allow for cut pieces and working in corners. As the whole assembly is mounted on braked wheels, the boards can be positioned very accurately before finally pressing the boards tight up to the ceiling ready for permanent fixing.

The chapel is now complete and ready for final decoration. I am very pleased with the end result and still look up at the height and volume and wonder just how I could have achieved the end result without the Drywall Lift.

Since buying and using the Series 2200 Lil' Hoister, I have been able to lower my labor costs. Before I had to send out three to four guys to a site. Now thanks to the Lil' Hoister my techs are able to go to each site, and install the generators themselves. I really think the Lil' Hoister have not only reduced my labor costs, but also increased my sales as I am able to be more efficient on the site.

We bought the Caddy Mac a few months ago. Since then the Caddy Mac Cart has made our job easier and has helped us run the business better. It makes moving spools of wire and materials to the job site easier and we could not be happier with it.

I have used the Roust-A-Bout myself. I have also loaned it to one of the contractors that deals with us. It is handy as it saves us from sending three men to a job when we can send two or even just one. The Roust-A-Bout is easy to use and rugged enough that I don't have to worry about it getting damaged.
